We want to remind you that the weather conditions at Greenfield can be entirely different from weather and road conditions where you live. After a snowstorm, please check to find out what the lane conditions are like, and if we are having service by visiting this web site, or by contacting Greenfield at (540-635-5062).

Driving on the Lane with Snow or Icy Conditions

When entering:

Maintain a sufficient interval between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you to allow for increased stopping distance.

Keep the car in low gear.

Drive at a moderate, steady speed (under 20 MPH), and avoid stopping if possible.

Use four-wheel or all-wheel drive if your vehicle is so equipped.

When exiting:

Keep the car in low gear to minimize downhill acceleration.

Avoid accelerating or building up extra speed going downhill.

When braking, tap the brakes lightly – hard braking can produce skids.

You may want to consider carpooling with a more experienced winter driver. Carpooling will also help with parking, as parking spaces may be limited.
